Unity is free to make games and sell them, but just like with Unreal Engine, once you have made a certain amount you will then have to start paying royalties to Unity. With just a few commands you can have demos/games up and running on mobile devices.

Now the other thing (that may or may not concern you depending on how big you plan to make it) AppGameKit Classic is a powerful game development engine, ideal for Beginners, Hobbyists & Indie developers.

So the scene editor for example was originally an external app, but now it has been integrated making it easier to use and import into your projects, that and the other tweaks allowing you to make fine adjustments to your program as you test it.Īpart from that Studio and Classic are pretty much the same, the syntax is all the same so you can start writing in Classic then port over to Studio very easily, there shouldn't be any commands you need to change. I also own FL Studio and came come up with some decent melodies. I own a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud and I'm fairly useful with Photoshop. I'm not worried at this point about graphics and music. The BASIC is similar to languages I've used long ago in the past (+) Seems to be powerful (+) (but not as powerful as Unity?) $99 (-) (although I don't really care about the cost) So this is how I see the postives (+) and negatives (-) for each. I know that if I continue on the Unity path, I need to learn C#. I'm not worried about the cost of AGK Studio, but from the videos I have seen on Youtube it does look easier to code with the BASIC that AGK Studio uses. I would like to be able to use command line switches in my app - Something like myapp.exe -debug. Games similar to Stardew Valley, The Escapists, Rimworld, etc. AppGameKit Classic Chat / Access app command line Author. I want to be able to create, in the beginning anyway, 2D overhead pixel-graphics based games. I honestly can't decide if I want to move forward with Unity or AppGameKit Studio.
